The Clinical Pharmacy department is dedicated to clarifying and reinforcing the concepts of clinical pharmacy for students of the College of Pharmacy. These concepts qualify them to provide clinical pharmaceutical services, whether patient-related or not, within healthcare institutions. In order for pharmacists to become active and essential members of the healthcare team, this is achieved through continuously updated theoretical and practical clinical curricula, aligned with the rapid advancements in clinical pharmaceutical sciences and in accordance with the latest standards of quality and academic accreditation in higher education. In addition, fifth-year students receive intensive training in teaching hospitals under the supervision of experienced specialists, placing them on the path of continuous pharmaceutical education and in direct contact with pharmaceutical practice in healthcare institutions.
The department teaches Medical Terminology to first-year students, Medical Ethics to third-year students, and Clinical Pharmacy, Public Health, and Communication Skills to fourth-year students. For fifth-year students, the department offers Therapeutics, Clinical Case Discussions, Hospital Training, and Pharmacoeconomics. The department also trains undergraduate students on tools and concepts of clinical research that address therapeutic problems accompanying healthcare services provided to patients within healthcare institutions. This prepares the pharmacist to observe and diagnose pharmaceutical practice issues, analyze their causes, dimensions, and impact on healthcare services, and propose experimental studies that may form the basis for solving these issues.
